I promised last December that I would work on developing a UNeTe website….this is as far as I’ve gotten…..The image above is just temporary, and I did get Marianne’s and Priscilla’s permission to use it but just for demonstration purposes…..we can change it out later…and maybe use a sequence of images??
Let me stress that this is just a rough draft based on my own ideas as to how this might work….I’m certainly open to any all input and advice….in fact, I’m sure that many of you know much more about how these sites work than I do……I’m just hoping to move this issue a little bit forward……
Before I go any further, we have Darrel to thank for letting us play around with his own personal WordPress account….. In the future, perhaps UNeTe could purchase its own account…..but for now, muchas gracias, Darrel…..my understanding is that each member of UNeTe could have her and his own username and password and therefore individual access to the site at any time….

It would take more planning and organizing….but this site could be used to post events and other news…… We would need to organize the site so that people know where to post certain things….and, of course, after that people would need to periodically check the site on their own to see what’s going on……right now, we rely a great deal on e-mails which “push” notifications into people’s inboxes…..and that’s actually rather effective in many cases………
On the other hand, if you have too many e-mails, people eventually start ignoring them…I think……..
A dedicated site like this one could help us manage information and notices…..and perhaps we can talk about how to organize it during our May Planning Retreat…..
By the way, May 6 is in fact our scheduled date for a potluck dinner at Gloria’s….

But you get the idea how this site might look……. when we finally get a logo, we could use that on these pages…..we can do all kinds of things….this is basically a step in the direction of online publishing……I know it’s more work, but I do think there’s a commensurate payoff on the other side….students and parents from anywhere could see our pictures, see our syllabi….get to know us a little bit….at least know who we are and where to find us on campus…….it could be a good recruiting tool….it could help give our UNeTe group a focused identity…it could really expand our profile in the community…….. but, as I say, this is only my own rough draft….this is just a proposal for the group’s consideration…..I’m basically just brainstorming…….
If you click on “Javier’s page” you should be able to see my draft of a “bio page” that introduces students quickly to a faculty or staff member….then perhaps there could be a link there to take students to our own individually produced and maintained site….
